Röllakan, Swedish vintage small tapestry weave with zig-zag pattern

This beautiful tapestry, woven with Röllakan (flat-weave) technique features an intricate zigzag pattern. The zigzag pattern, which is very characteristic of röllakan technique, emerges when the pattern shifts diagonally with each new row of weft. It has been associated with the movement and flow of water, perhaps fitting for Scania's (southern Sweden) flat landscape, rich with streams and rivers. At both ends, the tree of life is also featured. In excellent condition. The measures are 28"x23" (without warp fringes).
