$145.00Price
Quantity

This beautiful weave features many traditional folklore symbols from Southern Sweden/Scania. At the center the Bäckahäst (the Brook Horse), a mythical creature known for its beauty and the deadly allure it held near water. The Bäckahäst symbolizes nature's hidden powers and was traditionally woven as magical protection against misfortune in the home. You can also find birds, trees, and a zigzag pattern framing the weave. These are recurring symbolic motifs in Scania's traditional weavings. The bird represents freedom and happiness, the tree symbolizes life force and growth, while the classic zigzag pattern in röllakan (flat-weave) technique is often associated with water and movement. In excellent condition slightly faded with age. The measures are 28.5" x 19.5". Enjoy!
